BRENDAN RODGERS has given Daniel Arzani more facetime with himself and the first team squad as they trained at Murrayfield today.

The Australian youngster has been part of Celtic’s developmental side for the last while and was expected to be part of the side who played Partick Thistle in the Glasgow Cup today.

However, intervention from Brendan Rodgers and the first team coaching staff has seen the tricky midfielder get some much-needed training with the senior group.

This is not necessarily a massive tell the Celtic manager is ready to give Arzani some game time in the near future. Rodgers has been known to call certain youngsters up to train with the first team if he gets good reports from the youth coaches.

This gives the younger players an idea of what’s expected of them if they do make the breakthrough.

It is very telling that Arzani was pulled from a competitive Glasgow Cup game with the reserves in order to train – especially when you consider he is not registered in Celtic’s Europa squad.

Is the Irishman readying his Socceroos star for some cameo appearances in the coming months?

While Arzani is getting first team treatment it’s worth noting Celtic have given Karamoko Dembele a debut in the Celtic reserves.

This might not seem like a big deal but the reserve side is the last stop before you either go to the first team or eventually move onto another club.

To be debuting at 15 is pretty special and shows Rodgers and the youth coaches believe he’s ready to mix it with people six or seven years older than him.

  1. This is good to see but we need two CHs a CF and two midfielders bring them in if we can before january and before we lose out again in the last days of the window i would bring in the new faces as fast as we can and ready them just in case we have some players we want to keep move out,and ditch the dead wood…
