ANGE POSTECOGLOU found the beginning to his Celtic career very tough. The Hoops gaffer had to come out and explain his position several times as he navigated through choppy waters.

Losing our first three away games and then drawing with Dundee Utd at home sent alarm bells ringing and many who tipped Ange to be a disaster were revelling in his inauspicious start to life in Glasgow.

After the Dundee Utd game, I’m not going to rewrite history and say I had complete faith in us winning the league, because I didn’t and I don’t think many Celtic fans would have felt much differently. However, what we were looking for was progress under pretty trying circumstances, the manager and many who watched him before his time in Glasgow asked us to trust the process – so we did.

I can’t find a better interview than the one the manager conducted back at the end of September after the draw to Dundee Utd. The question was put to him if he thought the league was over. The Australian was taken aback by the comments considering we were only seven games into proceedings.

We delved into our archives to find the interview where Ange made it clear things were happening and he would stay the course.

Ange Postecoglou’s belief in his philosophy very early on

It’s incredible listening to that interview knowing we are now Champions of Scotland. When Ange speaks, we should listen. It’s why the next time Celtic go through a sticky period, the manager has earned the benefit of the doubt and no matter what next season holds, we’re in the best of hands.
