Last night, Auston Trusty and his partner Emily Berardino took to social media to confirm that they are expecting their first baby, due in 2025.

The American central defender has settled into life well in Glasgow, developing a congenial partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers at the heart of the Celtic rearguard.

Trusty, who joined the Hoops from English Championship side Sheffield United on summer transfer deadline day for £6m, took to Instagram last night, posting a video of him and his partner at what looks to be a Scottish loch. All smiles, they posed with their scan photos:

The news comes as Celtic prepare to face Ross County in the Scottish Premiership later this afternoon.

While manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to make several alterations to his starting lineup from Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Club Brugge amid the Hoops’ hectic fixture schedule, most fans expect Trusty to keep his place.

The 26-year-old was one of Celtic’s best players midweek in the UEFA Champions League and has truly taken to life in green and white since his standout performance away to Atalanta last month.

He’s proved he can do it on either side of central defence, and as well as flourishing on the park in Scotland, Trusty’s life couldn’t be going any better off it, too.

  1. Judging by comments on Sheffield Utd fan sites, at the time, they seemed to be glad to be rid of him but Trusty has proven to be an absolute steal for the £6m or so we paid for him.

He’s a quick, strong, intelligent big defender, consistently winning headers & tackles and stays focused – an all-round excellent athletic defender.

Shows what playing in a good team can do to bring out the best in an obviously talented player.
