The Socceroos have been beaten in their first group stage game of the Asian Cup.

The Socceroos took on Jordan in their opening tie of the competition and were hoping to get off to a winning start.

It’s bittersweet for the fans who want to see Tom Rogic excel for his country but would also like to see the midfielder back at Celtic as soon as possible.

Rogic played the full 90 minutes.

If Australia were to go out at the group stage phase, it would mean Rogic would be available sooner for the bhoys as they continue their quest for eight in a row.

The further Australia go in the competition the more games the Wizard of Oz will miss for the Scottish champions.

There is undoubtedly a large section of the Celtic support who will not mind this result one bit after the Socceroos failed to play ball with Celtic when they wanted to keep him for the Glasgow Derby.

Next game for Graham Arnold’s men is on Friday against Palestine.

  1. F##k Australia. Not bittersweet at all.
Hopefully Australia lose all three group games and Tom gets back to where he wants to be quickly.
