After Aaron Mooy was ruled out of Celtic’s weekend tie with Hibernian, it was still to be confirmed if the midfielder would still head out to join up with Australia during the international break.

The Australian federation have confirmed Aaron will NOT participate for the Socceroos this month and will stay behind in Glasgow to get back to full fitness.

It wasn’t until Friday afternoon when Ange took his pre-match press conference that we found out Aaron was out injured. There wasn’t a timeframe for his return, but the player’s withdrawal from international duty tells is own story.

From a Celtic perspective, the more players who stay behind to either rest or get back to full fitness, the better.

Aaron has been a star for the Hoops during the second half of the season. After coming off the World Cup with Australia, Mooy has been ever-present and has dislodged Mat O’Riley from the midfield.

As the bhoys head into the final nine games of the SPFL season with another semi-final to look forward to also, it’s pivotal our players are fit and raring to go.

Celtic are still chasing a treble and Aaron will have a big say in how it pans out.
