ANGE POSTECOGLOU has provided an injury update on January signing Yosuke Ideguchi.

It was revealed that the midfielder had picked up an injury in pre-season that would see him miss the start of the season, but it seems that the injury is worse than expected.

The Celtic boss has revealed that Guchi is a long way away from being back in contention for matches. The Japanese midfielder is in rehab but still has stitches in his leg that will have to be removed.

The extent of the injury isn’t known, but it sounds serious. As quoted by The Herald; Ange Postecoglou stated;

“Ideguchi is still a fair bit off and in rehab. He got a fair few stitches in his leg that need to be taken out.

“It’s going to be a bit of a process with him, but he’s back at the club doing his individual work.

“I don’t really put timescales on these things as it’s not really fair with the players. Everyone heals differently. The important thing is he’s making progress.”

Blow for Yosuke Ideguchi

It’s a blow for the midfielder who was tipped by the manager to play a role with this season’s team.

With stars leaving in the summer, the manager admitted the side had been proactive and recruited Guchi to fill the void that Bitton left.

He’ll be looking to get back to full fitness as soon as possible and push to play a significant part in the team this season.

  1. Derk Boerrigter?! He got a horror challenge on TV then slashed his leg in training on a metal dummy, Derk would roll about for unwatered pitches. Shite comparison @De la Croix.

    One was all about a lack of commitment, Guchi on the other hand has just been unfortunate.

    Get well Yosuke HH

  2. Seen Ideguchi getting slagged all over online but don’t think he deserves it. Ange rates him and that’s all that matters.
    Hope he gets well and back to it asap.
