New Celtic defender Shane Duffy, has again tonight captained the Republic Ireland side that faced off against Finland this evening.

For the second time in a under week, Duffy took the armband and led his national side out for their second UEFA Nations League tie, in which they unfortunately fell to a 1-0 defeat.

At times, Duffy did show signs of rustiness, with this being only his second competitive game in a matter of months. Throughout the game though he did show his positive traits, with some good defender, his reading of the game and is clearly a leader of the back line.

Some of the Celtic faithful also managed to catch a glimpse of the 28-year old, during the game against Bulgaria on Thursday night, in which Duffy scored a late 93rd minute equaliser to level the game.

There has been much excitement around the signing of the Brighton defender on a season long-loan as we finally seem to have captured the central defender we have needed for a long time.

It is clear to see he has the leadership ability we could use at the back, with him being trusted to captain his country once again.

To many, including myself, it was a bit of a surprise, that we were able to sign him, with interest from clubs in the Premier League such as West Ham.

However, it seems to have been the lure of joining his boyhood heroes that has given Celtic the edge in signing Duffy.

Now that the internationals are over for Ireland, we should see Duffy training at Lennoxtown, for the first time early next week.
