Barcelona youngster Alex Valle appears set to cut short his loan spell at Celtic, with reports suggesting the left-back is on the verge of joining Serie A side Como for the second half of the season.

The 20-year-old, who joined Celtic in the summer on a season-long loan from Barcelona, has impressed during his time in Glasgow. However, with the Scottish champions actively pursuing a sensational return for Kieran Tierney, Valle’s opportunities at left-back could soon diminish.

According to Spanish outlet MARCA, Barcelona have given their approval for Valle to join Como on loan.

The Serie A side, managed by former Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, are keen to bring in the young full-back as they aim to climb the Serie A table in the second half of the season.

The deal, however, is contingent on Celtic finalising the return of Tierney, who is reportedly close to agreeing terms on a pre-contract agreement while talks over a potential loan move this month continue.

Celtic’s pursuit of KT has been the headline story of the January transfer window for the Hoops.

Celtic are exploring the possibility of securing Tierney on loan for the remainder of the season, but only if they progress into the next round of the Champions League, which they could do with a win against Young Boys.

If Tierney’s return is finalised, Valle’s departure to Como is expected to follow swiftly.

  1. Barca cannot be pleased with how we have treated this lad. He is the best LB currently at the club and he has been brilliant for us.
