BBC PUNDIT Michael Stewart has been waxing lyrical over Celtic’s newest signing Matt O’Riley after his starring role in the Glasgow Derby.

Matt was signed late on in the window but has started every game for the club so far that he’s been eligible to play.

A baptism of fire against Hearts at Tynecastle has set Matt up very nicely. The midfielder’s been part of a side who have made it nine points out of nine.

Speaking after the game on Wednesday evening, Stewart can’t believe the start Matt has made and how comfortable he looks in a Celtic jersey under some pretty stressful circumstances.

“Brilliant, he was absolutely outstanding.I think when you look at Hatate and you see his energy, you see exactly the same with Matt O’Riley.Energy and dynamism in the middle of the part. Real composure and you see him getting beyond the striker and getting into those dangerous areas.” Stewart told Sportscene.

“He was fantastic.

“Strength, composure, never flustered. I’ve got to say the performance at Tynecastle from Matt O’Riley as well and there tonight, he’s a really top player.”

Matt was a stand out at MK Dons. The player spent a year in the English lower leagues, choosing to turn down a new deal at Fulham to go play first-team football.

O’Riley’s attitude and ability has been first class since joining the club and he’s already a real threat to the likes of Tom Rogic and David Turnbull getting back into this team.

Ange does like to use an ensemble cast and given the intensity the team must play at, everyone will have their part to play.
