Former Celtic defender and team-mate of Neil Lennon’s during his time at the club, Gary Caldwell believes that he deserves time to turn this ‘crisis’ around.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Caldwell agreed that this is a crisis for the club at this time but also stated that he thinks Neil deserves the time to turn this around and there is no better option than him out there.

“I don’t think there is a better option.”

“It is a crisis. I don’t think anyone can get away from that and Neil Lennon hasn’t hidden from that. What is the plan? What is the better option?

“What he has done in his two spells as manager has given him a lot of credit. What he is to the football club in terms of his playing career as well also gives him credit. He deserves the time to make it work.”

There have been several Lennon’s ex team-mates to come out and back him in the media and Caldwell is just the next in line.

Of course, Neil Lennon has done a lot of the club both as a player and a manager but its got to a stage where it is too far and in a season like this we can not afford sentimentality.

2 wins in 10 games is not the form any manager survives, nevermind the manager of Celtic football club, in the season we are going for our 10th title in a row.

I’m sure we all love Neil Lennon, this isn’t the way we wanted things to end. There would be no better feeling than him turning things around and delivering ‘the 10’. Its got to a stage though where it just doesn’t look likely and we can’t take that risk
