How the league was won aired on BBC on Friday night with many Celtic fans settling in for a recap of how Ange took a team on its knees to the League championship in nine months. Given the incredible story and Celtic fans happy to relive all the moments – why did this show fall so flat?
In fact – ‘How the League was Won’ should have been changed to ‘How the League was Lost’ such was the content and tone of the show.
The programme was very heavy on content for The Rangers. The narrator was something out of a Chewin’ the fat sketch and the people interviewed weren’t big on insight. Packie Bonner and Michael Stewart probably the most articulate during the show.
BBC have a vast array of great footage over the season. However, the show refused to skew in Celtic’s favour at any point and made sure after Celtic’s two pivotal wins against their Glasgow rivals were followed up by a completely irrelevant Scottish Cup semi-final to show them beating Celtic in extra time.
This was a complete exercise in we need to give both sides of Glasgow equal footing on a programme that should have been mainly about Celtic’s redemption. It was played down as much as possible and what we got was a pretty dismal summary.
If you want a quick summary of the season – we’ve made up this short video!
The Rangers are after all the Scottish Cup Champions…. (;-0)
HH
Much better than having to watch the s.. m during a program meant to be about the mighty Bhoys in Green winning the league title. Let’s all laugh at the rangers (newco) haha
I turned it off.
BBC “Scotland” only offer balanced coverage of anything if the subject is waving a Union Flag. No surprises here.
Honestly some folk go out of their way to get themselves annoyed! It wasn’t meant to be all about Celtic, it was a summary of the whole season. Like it or not there were 2 teams involved in a title race till we cinched it near the end, were they meant to ignore that?
