The BBC have made a major blunder with their Scottish Cup Final highlights package by somehow missing out Celtic’s opening goal entirely.
Supporters looking to relive Celtic’s 3-1 Hampden victory over Dunfermline can still watch the full Sportscene extended highlights without any issues.
But the shorter four-minute highlights clip has left plenty of fans baffled after skipping over one of the most important moments of the match.
The package begins normally enough with Liam Scales’ superb goal-line clearance early in the game after Callumn Morrison rounded Viljami Sinisalo.
However, immediately afterwards, the footage suddenly jumps ahead and completely misses Daizen Maeda’s opener.
So anyone watching the condensed version of the highlights actually goes from a goalline clearance straight to Celtic already being 1-0 ahead without seeing how it happened.
Given Maeda’s clever lob over Aston Oxborough completely changed the flow of the final, it is a pretty remarkable moment to leave out.
The highlights were uploaded to iPlayer on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning, they are still up with the goal missing.
Thankfully for Celtic supporters wanting the full experience of another trophy win under Martin O’Neill, the extended Sportscene highlights still include all four goals and more of the major moments from Hampden.
