CRAIG BEATTIE has told Celtic supporters the bhoys should be after Lawrence Shankland in January with the club in need of another striker.

Beattie believes the prolific lower league scorer would fit in perfectly with the Hoops who would be creating a lot of chances for the front man to get on the end of.

Shankland has been linked with a number of clubs over the past 18 months with Celtic being one of them. The player moved to Dundee Utd in the summer and signed a long term deal at Tannadice.

Any suitors would have to pay a decent amount to take him away from the Tangerines and it remains to be seen if Celtic would want to negotiate an over inflated fee with a player they could’ve had for free in the summer.

For Beattie – it’s all about what Celtic need and he believes Shankland suits Celtic better than The Rangers

“Celtic need a striker.” Beattie told SunSport.

“I think he’s good enough for Celtic. I think he suits Celtic’s style more than Rangers.

“The way Morelos plays, he creates a lot of the chances and makes a lot of the goals himself, whereas Celtic are more creative in the final third with their wide players.

“I think he would be more suited and think he could quite easily come into Celtic and do a job there.

“The problem is going to be, if it’s a January move, that Dundee United are going to want silly money for him.

“Are Rangers or Celtic going to pay ridiculous money to a Championship team in Scotland?”
