In recent months, Celtic have been linked with Preston North End central defender Ben Davies on a pre-contract deal.
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the 25-year old and his next move. This afternoon, journalist Alan Nixon provided an update on the defender’s situation and how he is keeping his options open at this stage.

Central defence is certainly a position that Celtic need reinforcements, not only right now but for the future.
Without knowing the ins and outs of Davies as a player, he sounds like he would be an ideal addition for Neil Lennon but the clubface competition from several clubs across Europe.
Pre-contract deals such as this are transfers we should be looking to make for players from down south who’s contract are coming to an end.
If he is currently assessing his option, I don’t think it bodes too well for Celtic in the race for the defender. However, the prospect of European Football could hopefully be an aspect that could push Davies to make the move up to Glasgow.
