Celtic boss Neil Lennon has provided an update on possible transfer target and Preston North End centre back, Ben Davies suggesting that the club could make a move for him on a permanent deal before the end of the window.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Lennon was hopeful that the deal could be completed before Monday’s deadline but did mention he wasn’t sure if it would be done or not.

“Hopefully we can get it tied up before the deadline. We’d like it to happen but again, I can’t say for sure whether it’s going to happen or not.”

The 25-year old was reported to have signed a pre-contract deal on Thursday by Sky Sports. However, no more has come of that deal as of yet.

A deal for Davies for would look like a sensible business for a defender who has been wanted by several clubs across Europe. Despite the interest, though there is still a chance of the Englishman going elsewhere with more supposed interest from English Premier League side Burnley who would be looking to hijack the deal.

For me, it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see the Preston defender choose to go elsewhere with the current mess we are in. I’m sure we will find out the developments of this deal within the next few days.

  1. All the usual smoke and mirrors then. All eight months too late. As players who could have stopped the rot, left (and none were replaced) around then. Downhill all the way with no brakes. Suicidal fall from grace and a position of power. So get the fuc& out. And we as fans don’t care about struggling to finish second, gets the Hoops a chance at redemption of Champion league football. It pays to qualify, so use all last year’s ticket cash, and prove yourself to all of us small potatoes.
And we may decide to come back and dump wheelbarrow loads of hard saved cash on your doorstep, so you can burn it in front of us again.

    Fuc&ing naw.
