Benjamin Nygren, who brought Celtic level in Sunday’s win over Motherwell, has revealed his delight for match-winner Daizen Maeda and admitted he’s a big fan of the Japanese forward’s terrace anthem.
Maeda headed home deep into stoppage time to seal a dramatic 3-2 victory at Parkhead, rescuing Celtic from what would have been another frustrating result in front of their own support.
It was Nygren who pulled the Hoops level earlier in the second half, capitalising on a Motherwell mistake to finish with composure and breathe life back into the contest.
Speaking after the game, the Swedish player said he couldn’t be happier for his teammate.
“I was very, very pleased. I’m so happy for him and for the whole team and for all of the fans,” Nygren said. “I love to hear that song!”
The chant for Maeda rang out loudly after his late winner and at full-time, with the crowd erupting into celebration. Nygren, who is still settling into life at Celtic, is already embracing the atmosphere that comes with playing at Parkhead and moments like Sunday’s will only help him feel more at home.
The goal may prove more than just a dramatic match-winner for Maeda. It’s the kind of moment that can spark a run of form, especially after a performance where he’d looked far from his sharpest.

It’s the first time he’s really heard Celtic atmosphere since the anachry by some supporters against the board I’d can understand first game after being knocked out of champions league yes mistakes were made but to still keep it going you see how much it affected the players last half hour players got stuck in to win the ball and fans seen it and they supported what they seen thats made it a thrilling last half hour in the stadium now fans relise this banner waving against the boardthat greets the players at the start of games is having an affect on them and adds pressure to there game this might just be a turning point in Celtic support the players stop the anachry and all this political so senseless
Jack a thrilling last half hour after being outplayed by motherwell at celtic park for most of the game. Celtic were abysmal but got out of jail. This is why we have to keep the pressure on the board or it will get worse. What next an open top bus for beating Falkirk. Celtic need change and booing for one game won’t cut it i hate the disconnect around the club also but it has to be done or mediocrity will be accepted as the norm .
