CELTIC are said to be interested in bringing Benjamin Siegrist to the club this summer, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

However, he has warned that Preston has opened talks with the Dundee United players whose contract has expired with the Tayside club.

Manchester United are also interested, but, similar to Celtic, they also would use him as their backup.

To lure him to Preston, the club is offering him the gloves to be the number one keeper, which is said to appeal to the player.

This summer, Celtic aren’t desperate for a goalkeeper, with Joe Hart performing well in goals. Tobi Oluwayemi of the B team looks as if he could make a breakthrough in the coming years after being involved in a couple of matchday squads last season.

I don’t see a move surfacing for Siegrist. At 30 years old, he’ll want to be playing first-team action, and Celtic simply can’t offer him that.
