FILIP BENKOVIC has not hidden his desire to stay at Celtic Park for the full season even though there is a break in his loan contract come January.

Leicester are able to bring the defender back during the winter window if they so wish but Claude Puel spoke about giving Filip the whole season in Glasgow.

Since then, Brendan Rodgers has told Celtic fans they have not had ‘OFFICIAL’ word about the player’s status from the English Premier League side and knows things can change quickly.

However, it would appear Filip has received official word from the boss or higher-ups at Leicester.

Speaking to Record Sport about his status the Croatian said:  “It’s not a decision for me but the Leicester coach has said I can stay here and that’s good for me.”

The big man is loving life at Celtic Park and has been one of our best players so far this season.

He knows he can still improve and Filip believes he can do that at Celtic while giving ‘110%’ to the Celtic support.

“I think staying here for a year will make me improve as a player. Coming from the Croatian league to the English Premier League is a very big difference.

“I was only there for one month but I saw it was a big step up. I think this step, coming to Scotland, can make me better.

“The least I can do is give 110 per cent for the coach, the team and the fans.”

Celtic have four games before the end of the year and will be looking to take maximum points, with two difficult away games before the winter shutdown, it will be up to Benkovic and hopefully Boyata to be at their best.
