Cameron CarterVickers has been a revelation for Celtic since joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur at the start of last season. We were ecstatic when we signed the player on a permanent basis at the beginning of this term.

The American international has been a vital part of the Bhoys defence, helping them to the Scottish Premiership title and a League Cup triumph in his first season.

Since his arrival, CarterVickers has been a rock at the back for Celtic, providing assurance and composure that has been missing in the Hoops defence. His strength in the air and ability to read the game are unparalleled and have been instrumental in helping Celtic to take a nine-point lead in the SPFL.

For these reasons, Cameron CarterVickers should be up for consideration for the Player of the Season award. His impact at the back has been immense. He is undoubtedly the best Celtic centre-back since Virgil van Dijk, and his contributions this season have been nothing short of outstanding. I’m not saying I expect CCV to move on and win the EPL and Champions League, but as far as performances in a Celtic jersey go, CCV belongs alongside the Dutchman.

The big thing working against Cameron is that he’s set the bar so high that people almost expect him to always have a good game and play well. He’s also not a flair player who is going to give you a piece of magic. What he does do is give Celtic a solid backbone and platform to attack.
