SCOTT BROWN has spoken for the first time about signing a painting of him being punched by Ryan kent during Celtic’s 2-1 win at Parkhead last season.

The painting was commissioned for charity and both Ryan and Scott signed it with a few eyebrows being raised that Scott had agreed to do it. After all, this was a picture of him being assaulted on a football field.

That game will go down in the history books as the Scott Brown Glasgow Derby. The Celtic captain was responsible for two of their players being sent off on the day and Kent being retrospectively punished for the less than manly punch on the centre circle.

The vitriol Scott receives at times from not only fans but pundits is truly remarkable. He’s a winner, a player with passion and someone who doesn’t want to give you an inch on the football field. Off the pitch, Scott Brown the person is surprisingly placid – if you don’t count his taste in music.

The fact he signed this piece of art when he found out it would go to help the hardship of a Gers supporting family, he didn’t hesitate. Speaking to SunSport the Celtic captain said:

“It’s true, I did sign the painting of me being punched.

“It’s nice to be nice sometimes. And it’s a good picture — probably the best I’ve looked!

“I’m happy to do it if helps a charity or maybe someone who’s in a bad place.

“If someone’s willing to bid for it at an auction then I’m willing to help out.

“Yeah, I’m getting punched in the photo, but I’ve been punched by better people!

“I will probably be punched again in the future too!”

There’s a lot of people who go through hardships, families who’ve had hard times, especially with things like cancer.

“If you can help out, I don’t see any harm. Ryan and I were happy to help and it was Geo Thomson who did the canvas.

“He said if he could get the two of us to sign it then someone would buy it, with the proceeds going to charity.”

Scott knows these things go on in the heat of battle and holds no grudges. He is definitely right when he says someone will probably punch him again.

  1. IF a bookie was taking odds,I’d bet on at LEAST THREE times this coming season that Broonie will be assaulted/punched.
That could be upped to 4/5 times in the season going for THE TEN.✅
Sure,if there’s one thing that Scott does WAY BETTER than most,it’s wind up the sevco players.
He is World Class at that…
