The SPFL is trying to concoct a scenario where the league can be called if 50% of the games have been played this season and we go into another shut down according to SunSport. Last season, the top flight had eight games to go when it could no longer continue and the league was called as it stood.

In the 50% scenario, Celtic might not get the opportunity to play their postponed games giving them a massive disadvantage if the league was called extremely prematurely.

Add on top of that, the fixtures we’ll miss due to participation in lag seasons Scottish Cup as well as a potential Euro run and it’s safe to say we’ll be at least two or three games behind the rest.

This is something the whole league needs to approve and it will go to a vote. It remains to be seen if clubs would be up for that sort of scenario. However, the need for a plan B is a must.

The SPFL rarely reaches a consensus over these things and tend to be reactive instead of proactive. We’ll see how these talks pan out.

  1. All the more that the team should
    1. not have idiotic players disobeying covid rules and causing cancellation of games
    2. Play every game like a cup final and win all matches instead of playing sideaways football like the last two league matches

The rule if implemented is the same for all teams so lets stop making feeble excuses already. Play to our potential and we will win the league. Play like the last two league games and we wont. Simple as that

  2. Then it is a case of winning all games and score more goals than they have they are trying all they can to get the silly lad a win of anything on his CV..

Lets do this Celtic make sure we are at the top if and when its called..

  3. Surely to avoid a court case every team should all be on the same number of games played. You cannot call a championship final till the balance is restored. The refs are a bunch of fools. They think they run football, they do NOT. The fans run football, all the refs do is prove to all and sundry that they have an agenda. Have Sevco had five penalties yet this season, NO, but it might happen.
