Birger Meling has been heavily tipped to become a Celtic player in the last 24 hours but a ‘source’ close to the player claims there has been no discussions for the player to make the move.
There are no direct quotes in the RecordSport article and no name to the source so take from that what you will.
It was the Herald which gave oxygen to the story after Chris Sutton mentioned it on BT Sports over the weekend.
However, RecordSport wrote this morning there’s no deal in place.
“The 24-year-old Norway international dodged media attempting to ask him questions about his future following his side’s weekend draw with Odd.
“However, sources close to the player last night claimed there have been no discussions at this stage.”
Celtic are in the market for another left-back with many believing Meling could be the answer for the bhoys if he does come in this summer.
Neil Lennon is hopeful of getting players in before the deadline, but right now it’s anyone’s guess if we will bring in the quality we need.
