Denny Johnstone has today signed a 3 year deal with Birmingham City.

The striker was out of contract this summer with Celtic but due to youth development rules Birmingham were obligated to pay Celtic compensation for the player. This was thrashed out by the two clubs over the last week clearing the way for Denny to move south of the border without the need for a tribunal.

Birmingham were tipped off about Denny’s availability by former Celtic first team coach Alan Thompson who is now employed by City. After a trial they were desperate to get a hold of the exciting 19 year old.

Celtic reportedly offered him new terms but Johnstone felt it was the right time to move on in search of first team football.

The striker impressed during his time with the developmental squad and put in some fantastic performances against high quality youth opposition.

We wish Denny all the best for the future and hope that this move works out for him.
