CELTIC wished Nir Bitton farewell in the summer, with the midfielder desiring to embark on a new challenge.

Initially, the midfielder closed the door on a possible return to his native land, expressing his desire to remain in Europe. However, he’s since stated he could return to Isreal.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv offered Bitton a contract. However, the 30-year-old rejected the proposal. One reports that the former Celtic midfielder’s wage demands were not met. Despite Tel-Aviv looking elsewhere, they are considering raising funds to better their offer to Bitton. [One]

It’ll be interesting to see where the midfielder ends up, but one thing’s clear – he’s not going to rush into a decision. He’s currently in Dubai with Liel Abada, suggesting he’s relaxed and isn’t in a hurry to find a new club ahead of pre-season.

Bitton Was Underrated at Celtic

Bitton’s departure was overshadowed by Tom Rogic announcing that he’d also be leaving Celtic.

Bitton was brilliant for Ange Postecoglou last season. He’d commonly appear from the bench to step into midfield and break up the play. He was a great player to have in the squad and was dearly missed in some games when he was unavailable.

Bitton clearly wants to test himself at a higher level than the Israeli league level and could look to make a move to a top European league; he’s got the ability to.
