There were reports earlier this month Celtic were interested in bringing in English defender and long term injured Villa player Micah Richards to fill their right back position.
Celtic are linked with so many players during any given window it’s hard to keep up with them all. But this was a rumour which genuinely troubled some Celtic fans.
Micah has struggled with fitness and has not played in a very long time, the thought of him coming near Celtic in any capacity was not going down well with many.
Since suffering an injury back in 2016, the defender has made no appearances for the Birmingham club and even though Micah is on a special fitness regime and technically fit to start playing again, he has not shown enough.
MailSport is now reporting the Englishman is set to hang up his boots for good when his current Villa deal expires with his future in the game as a player looking ever bleak.
There’s no chance he will be at Celtic this month, it’s unfortunate for Richards he may have to call a premature end to his career but there’s very little chance of his body holding up in the physical rigours of the SPGL.
