BOBBY MADDEN has quit Scottish football and will join the English system next season, it has emerged this afternoon.

Dale Johnson of ESPN writes the Scottish whistler, who recently hung up his international whistle will now move away from Scottish football.

This news will go down well with Celtic fans who don’t rate Bobby Madden very highly when it comes to officiating. The whistler has been very inconsistent while being promoted as one of our top referees.

The flack you can get as a referee in this country can be hard, but the SFA don’t make it easy for these men to do their job properly or protect them from certain things. When you have a supporter from either side of Glasgow officiating a Glasgow Derby you put them in the firing line for incredible criticism – rightly or wrongly.

We have part time referees who aren’t very good at their job. We’re now about to hand them over the keys to VAR! It’s going to be a wild ride next season watching the current set of officials working the technology and making decisions.

We’ve already witnessed many outrageous decisions by far more experienced officials in different leagues.

At least Bobby won’t be part of things.
