The mystery of Boli Bolingoli, was one which really intrigued fans last season. He got off to a bit of a poor start but eventually found his feet and became a regular in the squad

However after his injury against Hibs in the League Cup semi-final, which caused him to miss a large majority of games, he was barely seen after this.

Many thought his time may have been up at the club. Speaking in an interview with the club today though, it certainly doesn’t sound like he will be leaving anytime soon.

He discussed the his enjoyment of picking up two trophies in his first season and how much he is looking forward to being back in action for the hoops.

“It feels good to have won title. For me it was my first season at Celtic and winning two cups was nice because not everyone gets to do that in their first season.

“Training’s been really hard, but we like that because its a pre-season. Thats a part pre-season, to get yourself fit and work hard so that we can start the season well. I’ve been working and preparing myself physically and mentally for next season.

“Hopefully, next season I have to try and score goals! Next season, the most important thing is to get 10 in a row, and if I can help the team it will be amazing for me to score my first goal for Celtic.”

Bolingoli did have his critics right at the start of the season. But Neil Lennon was the first to back him up during these times and stuck with the left back.

So after he did have a good run of form, it was a little strange to see Lennon turn so much and have Bolingoli nowhere near the team. At most parts he even struggled to make the bench, leaving many thinking his time at Celtic may be up.

Hearing him speak, it seems he must have a future at the club and he will be play some sort of influence on next season.

It will be interesting to see how the Belgium full-back does fit into the side, alongside Greg Taylor when the season does start up. It was a bit of a surprise to many seeing a favourite of Lennon’s, Jonny Hayes exit the club, so Bolingoli must have a part to play in someway or another.
