BOLI BOLINGOLI received criticism after he flew to Spain while Neil Lennon had given his players a few days off, returned and then played a part in Celtic’s 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock.
At the time, it was legal requirement to isolate after returning from the country. Not only had Bolingoli failed to comply with this, he never informed anyone at Celtic, until photos of him on the plane were in the Newspapers.
He was headline news and outlets up and down the country, with Celtic under immense scrutiny with how they handled the situation.
The former Celtic player has reflected on the trip and has admitted his “mistake”. As quoted by the Daily Record, he said;
“I received criticism from Neil Lennon and also from Nicola Sturgeon for what happened. That was a mistake, just as everyone can make mistakes. Celtic eventually turned the page on that chapter and so have I. I wanted to improve further in Scotland. I played a strong first season at Celtic and we won the league.”
It was an idiotic actions led Nicola Sturgeon to question of football could go ahead in Scotland. Luckily, she decided it could go on.
He’s now playing gin Belgium with Mechelen, trying to rebuild his career, after it was halted at Celtic.
Set the scene really.
