Boli Bolingoli exited Celtic this week almost two years after the lockdown incident that put fuel on the dumpster fire of the pandemic season.

The Belgian hasn’t played much for Celtic since then, the defender shipped out to Turkey during the behind closed door campaign.

Ange Postecoglou played Boli one time in a competitive game but that was it. The Australian didn’t entertain him at much at all.

We’ve been all waiting for news on Boli’s departure as Celtic get rid of the dead wood and it finally came on Tuesday evening.

The left-back joins Mechelen on a permanent deal and puts the sorry episode behind him. Both Boli and Celtic can finally move on.

Talking after the deal had been concluded, Boli revealed his reason for signing with the Belgian club.

Speaking to the official Mechelen website, Boli said: “I was just looking for a club where you notice a family feeling. This became clear from the first contact. I want to get back playing and have fun. That is my first goal at KV.”

Celtic fans will be happy to see the defender off the books at the club. The bhoys brought in Alexandro Bernabei earlier this summer to compete at left back with Greg Taylor. Boli had no chance of a reprieve.
