The Scottish Premiership title race has taken an unexpected turn – and for once, it isn’t Celtic’s Glasgow rivals providing the main competition.
Rangers were humbled at Ibrox this afternoon, falling to a convincing defeat at the hands of Derek McInnes’ rejuvenated Hearts. The result fired the Edinburgh side to the top of the league table with 13 points from their opening fixtures, sending a clear message that they mean business this season.
Celtic now face an immediate response. Brendan Rodgers takes his side to Rugby Park knowing that only a win will draw the Hoops level with Hearts at the summit. The Hoops sit on 10 points, and with the backdrop of supporter unrest and a bruising transfer window, the pressure is firmly on to deliver.

For Hearts, it is a statement start. McInnes has brought steel and organisation, turning his side into a team that looks capable of mixing it with the top teams. It is early days, but their consistency and energy have already seen them steal an early march.
The same cannot be said for Rangers. Russell Martin’s side looked fragile and uninspired, producing another lacklustre performance that has left them not just off the pace in the title race but staring at some uncomfortable truths about their direction. The Ibrox side looks hopeless.

For Celtic, the focus must remain inward. They cannot afford a slip at Rugby Park, not only because of Hearts’ strong start, but also to maintain calm amid growing unrest around the boardroom. Victory would restore momentum and underline that, whatever early shocks the Premiership throws up, the champions remain firmly in the driver’s seat.
It may be too early to call Hearts title challengers, but right now, they are setting the pace. Celtic must respond – and fast.

“Hearts go top, and Celtic must respond!”
Written in this VERY COLUMN!
Yet here we are encouraging the Celtic fans to stay away, rebel, stop buying Celtic related goods, stop giving money to the club, withdraw support of Scottish Football’s only big club, stop getting behind the most successful club this country has ever seen and is ever LIKELY to see!
Am I missing anything?
What is wrong with you? What is wrong with fans who think they are in desperate times with the MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB OF ALL TIME?
