DEDRYCK BOYATA’S agent has reportedly told Het Laatste Nieuws the player is done with Celtic and will leave in the summer or sooner depending on what unfolds in the coming weeks.

The Belgian knuckled down in the summer after he and his agent tried to manufacture a Parkhead exit during the final days of the window.

The player even refused to play in Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers.

Any hope that the two parties would reconcile and get back around the table seems to be all but over after these comments by Boyata’s agent as reported by SunSport.

“A new contract? Not an option. We are not even talking.

“We have plenty of choice. We are looking at every proposition.”

Celtic offered Boyata a way out of his Man City hell after languishing in their reserve system until the age of 24. While he has had his ups and down at Celtic the fans have tried to back him all the way – it’s poor to see a representative of the defender being so dismissive of the club.

Rodgers would have no qualms about keeping the player for another six months, while the board would prefer to accept a bid should one come in this month.

With Boyata certain to leave and Benkovic heading at the end of the season, it’s a big window for bringing in new defenders.
