Some Celtic fans will feel Dedryck Boyata redeemed himself before he left Paradise, other’s won’t forgive his antics to get a move away from Celtic last summer. Be that as it may, the player did help Celtic secure a historic Treble Treble last season.

The big Belgian missed out on the last and most important quarter of Celtic’s season through injury. Because of that, the defender went out the Parkhead exit doors without too much notice. He then signed for Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin.

After 4 months without a competitive game under his belt, Boyata just made his debut for the German side for just 45 minutes against Vfl Bochum. The player took to Instagram to mark the occasion.

Nir Bitton, Bayo and Timo Weah are the only players so far to have interacted with the big Belgians post.

  1. Dedryck Boyata i wish him all the best,i just do not understand how we did not just sell him and got some money in from him,if you look around at they are trying to sell there players for top money and none have won anything is it me or are the managers just buying any players for top money that will have no hope of playing in there team,if any of there players go for 10 or 20 million then that will open the door for all players in Scotland going for top money for winning nothing and not even playing in CL or have any caps or just 1 or 2 going be good to see if they can get top buck for there players they fit well in to that type…

  2. Agree with Jackie, I would have preferred to cash in on a player who evidently wanted to leave, and equally a player who in my eyes had been as much a liability as he had been a good player. Far too inconsistent, prone to a couple of errors each game, and before he played in the world cup I dont think anybody would have blinked if he had left us before the summer transfer window. A reasonable run of games did redeem all of the nonsense a bit, but my memories of Boyata are at least mixed. A reasonable centre half with an odd mix of good games, injuries, conplete howlers and then that deputising for Kompany in the WCF. Bizarre! Good luck to him anyway.
