DEDRYK BOYATA admitted he was left ‘speechless’ after linesman Frankie Connor came to the Celtic dressing room and personally apologised to him.

The towering defender was left in a state of rage after the referee pointed to the penalty spot on Saturday after advice from his linesman. The poor decision sparked the game into life with Celtic scoring another two goals to ensure they made it through to the final.

However, it was after the game when the linesman shocked the defender by apologising.

“The linesman came into the dressing room after the game and said, ‘I want to apologise and to say that I made the wrong decision’.

“So fair enough. I wasn’t expecting that. He didn’t have to do it.

Dedryk could see the funny side after it didn’t harm Celtic too much in the defence of their League cup crown.

“I was angry but he still came and apologised. I don’t think he was scared – I have an angel face!”
