Dedryck Boyata has finally broke his silence on whether he was on strike during the final year of his Celtic contract. The big Belgian had a falling out with Brendan Rodgers at the beginning of the 18/19 season. At the time, Boyata was claiming he was injured while Brendan Rodgers refuted those claims.
It prompted the Green Brigade to unfurl a banner that said Boyata was not ‘fit’ to wear the jersey. Ironically the player would go onto score the winning goal that evening.
The centre-back played a huge roll in last season after the dust had settled and the window was closed. There was no pretence at anytime that he was going to sign a new deal with his agent making it clear he’d see his contract out.
But the defender is totally refuting he was on strike and explained why he headed for the Parkhead Exit after four years at the club.
“It’s not true, I was accused of strikes last summer so I could move. I also played through the season, was in the Scottish team of the year and played my part in the title.” He told RecordSport.
“The truth is, I’ve won everything at Celtic in four years. But it was time to start something new.

He served us quite well despite being a bomb-scare at times..good luck to him wherever he is,but i disagree that he gave his all for us.
Any player,especially a defender,should never be switched off as often as he was,nor have such poor ‘i dont really want to be here’ body language.
