ANTHONY STOKES looks to have earned himself the sack after going awol from his club last week in Greece.

The striker only signed for Apollon Smyrni in Febuary and played three games for the club without scoring.

Apollon have now released a statement and are looking to get rid of the former Celtic striker.

An Apollon statement said: “The player is in clear breach of his contract.

“He has failed to even contact us during the period he has not turned up for training.

“As a consequence of this, we are looking if we can legally terminate his contract.”

Stokes signed an 18-month deal with the greek side, which raised a few eyebrows at the time.

The Irishman was sacked from Hibs due to falling out with former Celtic manager Neil Lennon at Easter Road.

What next for the former League and Scottish Cup winner?

  1. Is he still alive? No one seems concerned! At least wait until he turns up and hear what happened before talking about sacking him!

  2. What goes on in that head of his? A player with a clear and recognisable talent who seems hell-bent on ruining any semblance of a football career he may have had. I’m sure he has enough finances to not really care what he does but he certainly isn’t going to be remembered with any great affection by any of the clubs he has been at and pissed off from under a cloud.

    Silly Bhoy.
