Third tier German side MSV Duisburg confirm the signing of Marvin Compper from Celtic.

The defender’s ill-fated time at the club has come to an end after he only ever played 80 minutes of a Scottish Cup tie.

Brought in by Brendan Rodgers on the advice of Lee Congerton the German immediately suffered an injury during the Dubai training camp. From there, it was an upwards struggle for the player. He failed to impress Brendan Rodgers and never got any game time.

At one point, Rodgers told Celtic fans the player was injured but Compper refuted that at the time.

At the Celtic PLC shareholder’s AGM, the Irishman even took responsibility for the signing when a shareholder brought up the incredible waste of money in bringing the German into the club.

He did get the biggest cheer on trophy day when he went up to get his medal. It’s a shame because Celtic fans never really got to see him play and not even Neil Lennon coming in changed anything.
