ABERDEEN’S Scott McKenna has been offered a two-match ban for his ‘tackle’ on Odsonne Edouard at the weekend.

The defender who was a summer Celtic target lunged into the French striker during his side’s defeat to Celtic at the weekend.

At the time, the referee Bobby Madden took no action against the defender for such a reckless challenge.

It was clear to everyone in the stadium apart from Madden and his officials that a bad foul had been committed.

What made it worse – Madden told Edouard to get back up after the incident like he had gone down too easy to begin with.

The French striker was subbed minutes after the collision and played no further part in the match.

The compliance officer has reviewed the footage and believed an injustice has taken place. McKenna should have seen a straight red at the time and a penalty should have been awarded to Celtic.

The SFA await Aberdeen’s response.

  1. Justice at last , HH,,, Madden should be made to explain to the footballing media why he never gave a red card immediately after that tackle, he should be severly repremanded for his decision not to show a straight red, it says he has been demoted to the lower leauges to referee games, well is that punishment enough !!! ,NOT in my opinion, he should be banned from refereeing any of Celtics games for the rest of this season or indefinitely

  2. This is nowhere near enough for the outrage he has caused, but he is not alone when it comes to refereeing Celtic games it appears that they chose to refer these incidents as robust football and often wonder if we should adopt a revised ruling that all premier league referees should be dealt with more severely as its happening more frequently and that particular tackle was waist heigh and could have been a career threatening injury .
So if a referee of his so called standing elegedly couldn’t see the tackle then the camera angle says different so he deserves to be punished and dropped from the premiership refereeing for quite a considerable period of time.
It would also be beneficial for the ruling body for refereeing to address these questionable decisions immediately after the game, and decide if there should be any further action taken regarding the referee or player incidents that may cause concern.
