CHRIS SUTTON has told Celtic fans he thinks there’s a ‘fair chance’ Brendan Rodgers will leave in the summer, two years before his deal actually ends.

The former Celtic striker believes there’s a portion of the Parkhead fanbase who believe Rodgers will try and deliver a third treble and walk off into the sunset.

The rumours are a mixture of the summer of discontent in the transfer window alongside the media’s willingness to punt Brendan Rodgers as a candidate for every job going down south.

Sutton will always give you his honest opinion, whether it be right or wrong, the BT pundit has no agenda when he says the following but we wonder how much of his opinion his formed in reality and not just in hearsay.

“I think there’s a lot of Celtic fans who are thinking that he’s concentrating on the Treble and then he will be off in the summer.” Sutton told The Record.

“What I would like to happen, and I think Brendan owes it to the Celtic fans, to come out and tell everybody that he wants to stay next season.

“Because, if he does go, Celtic are in a mess in the summer. Short-term loans going back, no centre-half pairing, it’s going to be a massive problem in the summer.

“I think there’s a fair chance that Brendan will be off in the summer.”

Brendan has gave Celtic unprecedented success on the domestic front but Sutton feels the club’s unwillingness to invest for Europe could be the thing which moves Rodgers on.

If there are no more realistic worlds to conquer then the overwhelming thought is he will move on.

IF this scenario played out then Chris would be right about the state of play at Celtic, with so many players coming to the end of their loan deals and contracts there would be major upheaval.

Rodgers being there gives a good amount of certainty and there’s no viable reason why we should think he’s away any time soon.
