Brendan Rodgers has addressed Adam Idah’s decision to go down the tunnel at Dens Park after being substituted
Idah did not have his best performance against Dundee tonight, failing to score a tap-in from a superb Kyogo cross in the first half. The Irishman failed to match the standards he set last season while on loan from Norwich City.
He proved to be a match-winner off the bench last year in guiding the Hoops to a league and cup double.

However, with his last goal for Celtic coming on November 30th against Ross County at Celtic Park, he is going through a goal drought despite starting the Hoops’ last four games.
It’s not exactly been what you’d expect from a reported £9 million summer signing, with the hope that Idah would really push Kyogo to start this season.
However, that simply hasn’t materialised in the first half of the season.
Instead, the Irish striker seems to have moved backwards, which is a worrying sign for Rodgers and Celtic supporters.
With some questioning whether Idah had an injury, Rodgers spoke about the reasoning behind Idah wanting to go to the dressing room instead of sitting on the bench with the substitutes.
When asked ‘Did he go straight to the dressing room, Adam, was he injured?’
He said: (The Celtic Way), “No, he went to get something warmer. Did you see him come back? He came back.”
A spiky reaction from Rodgers, to say the least. The Celtic boss is unhappy with some looking to create a situation from Idah’s reaction to being substituted.
However, it is not commonplace for players to go straight up the tunnel.
The manner in which Idah clapped the travelling Celtic support shows that he is not throwing his toys out of the pram and was, instead, as Rodgers says, feeling the cold.
“Not what you would expect for a £9 million striker”
How would no one expect this? From a guy that couldn’t get a look in at Norwich.
Idah had a bit of a fluke season on loan to us but look at his career up until now.
11 goals in 100 games for Norwich,
4 goals from 29 international games.
Where do those stats point to a 9 million player?
He is way out of his depth. It’s not his fault, it is the scouts and management that thrust such an average player into a such massive position leading the line at a club where you will be scrutinised at every turn.
Engles is in an similarly tenuous situation. Our most expensive signing ever!
Can anyone see him being the best midfielder we have ever had to justify that price tag?
Spot on there Don,who sanctioned these signings, people go on about wasted money from mark lawell signings but Idah and Engels don’t look much value for having spent TWENTY million to secure their services,we were very poor again last night and with the disparity in wages and player values it was hard to tell who the big spenders were, watch out for young boys getting their first CL points if we don’t buck up and god knows what Aston villa will do to us if we play like last night.
Throw in trusty ….bernardo…your looking at serious cash
Omg what do you have to do to make some people happy ,16 points clear in league, first trophy on the cabinet ,very good chance at qualifying for next stage in champions ,calm down all will be good
You talk as if it’s all about the money we spent. What were you expecting? Cole Palmer. Saka? Salah? They are good players and will make you eat your words. Get off there backs and support them. Moan. Moan. Moan.
Agree with most of comments, but Engles is 21 years old I think he has what it takes! lets give him time,he might turn into the £11million pound player Celtic payed for him! or did they?
Is time rid of our of our arrogant clown of a manager his style of play is boring, and ineffective out side of Scotland ,we got lucky with our CL draw this is HIS team ,do we trust him to build a team for NEXT season on his present record of signings?
