Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the Hoops are still awaiting to see the extent of Callum McGregor’s injury suffered against Dundee on Wednesday.

Rodgers also confirmed a rough timescale for a return, but with the Celtic medical team set to further analyse the Achilles and calf injuries, the Irishman did his best to estimate a return date.

Rodgers said [Celtic TV], “He is a huge influence for this team. Sadly, he’s picked up a knock, which we’ll see how long it’s going to be.

“I don’t think it’s going to be too long for a return. He may well miss between now and the international break, so we’re just awaiting to see the extent of that on Wednesday.”

Rodgers will be desperate to get McGregor back as soon as possible, given his influence on the side, which is as great as anyone within the squad.

However, the Irishman will also be aware that if McGregor is rushed back too fast, it could result in further injuries recurring.

Therefore, for the time being, the Celtic captain will be monitored closely.
