Brendan Rodgers addresses Miovski to Celtic links

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has not dismissed the possibility of a January transfer move for Aberdeen’s star forward Bojan Miovski.

Amidst growing interest in the player, Rodgers has been cautious in his comments but acknowledges the need to plan ahead for the upcoming transfer window.

SunSport reports that Celtic has been closely monitoring Miovski, with scouts attending every domestic game he’s played this season. The 24-year-old North Macedonian striker has caught the attention not only of Celtic but also of their rivals Rangers and several clubs in England.

While Celtic is reportedly at the forefront of the chase for Miovski, securing his transfer could come at a significant cost. Aberdeen values the striker at a figure surpassing the £4.4 million Celtic paid for Scott Brown in 2007, potentially setting a new record for the club.

When asked about his interest in Miovski, Rodgers chose his words carefully, stating, “I wouldn’t comment on any specific player.

“This is the period where agents throw out names and links, so if I did it would be a long six weeks.

“But there are certainly names there. As a manager you’d always prefer to get them in the sooner the better but we have the winter break and we won’t play until the middle of January.

“Work is also under way for the guys who haven’t been playing — obviously they’ll want to get out to play as quickly as possible.”

The Celtic boss also hinted at potential departures, noting that players who haven’t seen much game time might be looking for opportunities elsewhere to ensure regular play.

As the January transfer window approaches, Celtic’s strategy and potential moves will be closely watched. The addition of a player like Miovski could significantly bolster the team’s attacking options, but the club must balance this against the financial implications of such a high-profile signing.
