Adam Idah was Celtic’s Hampden hero this afternoon, the Irish striker coming off the bench to score the only goal of the Scottish Cup final.
The 23-year-old has made quite the impact since moving to Glasgow in February on loan from Norwich, and post-match today, he admitted he loves the Hoops when quizzed on his permanent future.
No one expected Idah to score the goals he has for the champions but time and time again, he has turned up when it has mattered.
Indeed, his braces at Easter Road and Fir Park were nothing short of pivotal with the centre-forward kickstarting a title party at Rugby Park a week and a half ago.
His alert finish today is the latest in a long list of key Celtic strikes, and it is no surprise that several supporters have called for Idah’s loan move to be made permanent this summer.
Manager Brendan Rodgers admitted after today’s game that he would love to sign the attacker long-term. He said (RecordSport) “For me he was the catalyst of our season because we needed a different dimension up front.
“The big guy comes in, he has so much potential and played in some really important games. What I love about Adam is he is a big game player. He loves the big games and occasions.
“Hopefully we can do something. He has a long-term contract at Norwich but he is definitely one I would love to bring back here. At 23 with the potential and quality he has I think he can really push on in his career.”
