BRENDAN RODGERS hit back at some of the over the top criticism of his team after a poor display against Anderlecht.
The Celtic manager sighted that in today’s modern game and where Celtic are you’re always going to come in for criticism when you’re more on the level of an Ajax but people are comparing you to PSG.
“Where we are in terms of modern football, you look at the teams that we should be measured against like Ajax, who didn’t even qualify or the likes of Benfica who are running away with the league in Portugal but ended up with no points, and other teams,” he said.
“So it’s unfortunate that lots of people will measure us on PSG and Bayern Munich, which is totally unrealistic.
“I think what the players have done in these last 18 months from not qualifying to then finishing bottom of the Europa League to having a successful Champions League qualification campaign and now in the second campaign to qualify for European football after Christmas, I think it’s an achievement for them in terms of where we sit in football at this point in time.”
The display on Tuesday night may have brought out the more negative sides of the Celtic support – Brendan Rodgers is correct in what he’s saying. They are making progress in a world where Borussia Dortmund gained fewer points than Celtic in the Champions League.
Celtic where garbage brendan and if u don’t sign anybody decent in January and we draw a arsenal or ac Milan or athletico Madrid u can say ta ta to Europe u left too much space against anderlecht u also let them spray passes fae wing to wing so I don’t agree wi u Rogers I also think if u play like u did Tuesday nite hibs will beat us so make sure u get decent commanding defenders in tae dembelle is overrated tae

Celtic are still punching above their weight, we were seeded 4th in the group, therefore once again we have improved, Brendan is spot on with hi comments, Hail Hail.
Anyone who deems that performance to be acceptable…ain’t gettin’ in ma gang.
BR is wrong to take this attitude…and would do better to reflect (privately) on his team selection and set-up.
His mid-field choice was poor to say the least…especially in a game we needed to avoid a heavyish defeat.
Armstrong and McGregor have no physical presence whatsoever…and should have been nowhere near a jersey…and this was proved when the belated changes were made.
And nobody is bringing PSG or Bayern into the equation…we know where we stand there.
The truth is…we won one game…against a Club who were in turmoil at the time…but who, for 45 minutes,
played us off the park the other night.
BR needs to get better at receiving constructive criticism.
