BRENDAN RODGERS has called out Dedryk Boyata’s attitude and told fans it was the defender himself who has deemed himself unfit to play against Suduva and not the coaching staff.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference the Irishman spoke of the need for players with good attitudes as well as possessing the talent.

“We only want good players but, more importantly, we only want good attitudes in the group and that was something that was very clear. He’s trained the last few days with the squad but deems himself not quite right physically to participate in the games.” said Rodgers.

After being pressed for more details on the relationship between himself and Boyata the Celtic manager told the media he and his captain Scott Brown had a sit down chat with the defender this week and they are all ready to move on from what has transpired the past two weeks.

“It’s very simple and it’s closed now. He had a meeting with the captain and myself. We all spoke about where we were at and agreed we wanted to move on from it.”

It remains to be seen if Boyata has any sort of future with the club and if he will even play another game for Celtic.

If it was down to the Belgian, he would be off as soon as possible. Boyata is in the last year of his contract and will most certainly look to sign a pre-contract with a club in January should Celtic choose not to sell in this window.
