FORMER Liverpool and Bayern star Dietmar Hamann has touted Brendan Rodgers for the vacant Leicester City job after declaring he can take Celtic no further.

The defensive midfielder believes Brendan is the right man for the job and believes the gulf in Europe means he should leave Celtic.

“Leicester should go for Brendan Rodgers. He has done a fine job at Celtic, but the defeats by Paris St Germain and Bayern Munich have shown him that he can go no further”

The gulf between the best in Scotland and the best in Europe is immense. His record at Liverpool more than stands comparison with Jurgen Klopp and he could definitely get Leicester into the top half.”

Brendan Rodgers has repeatedly spoken about his position at Celtic and also reaffirmed his commitment to the club this year when he signed a long-term deal.

Leicester may covet the Irishman but he’s all Celtic’s.

  1. I tend to agree but he is not going to Leicester. Celtic now without the funds Leicester have would finish around the same position as Leicester in the EPL. The Arsenal job will become available and possibly even the Chelsea job. But I do not see Rodgers being at Celtic for the duration of his contract, mainly due to domination at home and humiliation abroad.

    • Agree john..think rodgers will go ..but will hold out for top 6 job..has to be a team in regular contention for europe else theyd be no point in leaving us..but i thunk anybody who cant see it must be blind.

  2. That would be the same PSG that hammered Barcelona 4 – 0 and the same Bayern that humiliated Arsenal 10 – 2 over 2 legs. And what? He’s gonna make Leicester into a team that could compete with those clubs? Pffft!

    • Gaun the Tim Malloys,aw these blind beggars cannot see any further than the EPL.
They are blinkered to someone having passion for any other league, really so very sad.
Ex-footballers selling their blinkered views to anyone with the right amount of fee money.

    • Well said Tim. 10 in a row pure minimum. And if he does go after that, then it wont be to Leicester! It’ll only be for a club in the top 4. He’ll be linked with every big job that comes up in the meantime but Leicester doesnt fit that description….

  3. Are you’s all mad. We get a fantastic manager to our wonderful club and only after 16 months you’s canny wait to spew the nonsense he’s too good for our club. English football would be a step backward for Brendan and for the Scottish media to try to undermine our club and management is downright shocking. While the Huns are dying again you’s want us to throw away the greatest thing to happen to our club in decades. Brendan Rodgers is here for 10 in a row. 20 if he wants.Hail Hail

  4. Let’s get this right he isn’t going to Leicester its totally fanciful.Brendan is here for 10 in a row,and when the time comes he will set his sights higher than Leicester effing City.Brendan is barely into the job and will still have the aim of getting us closer to these teams. How many more of these EPL fanboy’s without an understanding of Brendan and his affinity for Celtic are going to come out with this nonsense

  5. Why do guys like Hamann not just piss off and leave our history making club to get on with our job. I hear him on talk sport and beliveve me , he belongs on this joke radio station along with the clown that is Adrian Durham, bigot to the last. HH

  6. Leicester fucking who A shitty little club with not a supporter outside its own city they might have premier league money but even that won’t save them their heading back where they belong next division down don’t kid yourself in abit them winning the premier league Blackburn won that and look at them now brendan is staying

  7. There is no such thing as English football, just football played in England.
It would not happen without the vast amounts of money that pours in there.
This is all going to dry up soon. Brexit has more surprises in store than people are aware of.

Brendan will not be going anywhere. He has found a home where he is trusted to build and a stable environment to do just that. This is what will give him pleasure. Progress earned on the back of skill, good management and rapport and seeing players develop.
More satisfaction is gained in situations where progress is earned rather than merely bought.
There are some in our support who just cannot grasp that.

  8. Declan that’s exactly the truth these clowns down south don’t have a fookin clue what there talking about when they mention Celtic I would personally love that over rated league of there’s which by the way is only decent because of the foreigners they pay absolute ridiculous amounts of money to play crumble around about them , I am sick listening to total bampots like ham Man talk total utter shecht

  9. Brendan is at Celtic, the club he has supported since bhoyhood. He will not be at Celtic forever though. I believe he is a man of integrity who will want to repay the faith shown in him by our chairman Dermot Desmond. I believe it will be in his mind to deliver 10 in a row and cement legendary status, that’s far enough to look for now, even for such a grounded man, even one in such a good place. He is a young manager as yet though and his job at Celtic is just underway. HH

  10. ONLY ONE BRENDAN ROGERS
    ONLY ONE TEAM FOR BRENDAN

    “” GLASGOW CELTIC FC “”

It Spells Book Loads How Much You See Brendan Rogers As A Great Manager! And You Reckon He Could Do A Grand Job With Any One Of Your Top Flight Teams AND YOU’D BE 1000% CORRECT APART FROM THE FACT HE IS OUR’S HE IS A CELTIC BHOY THROUGH & THROUGH AND HE AINT GOING NOWHERE, WHY WOULD HE, HE’S WITH THE TEAM HE’S LOVED SINCE A BHOY.

? Only One Brendan Rogers ?

    ?☘️ C O Y B I G ☘️?

  11. B R will not be going enwhere soon no need to worry and if he can put the defens Wright then we could just about get results in Europe.over all he has done a grand job since his arrival at paradise ??

  12. I think brendan will at least serve out his contract’
Remember Jock Stein he could have managed any club in Europe but stayed at Celtic.
You will always get rumours when someone makes a success of their job suppose it will depend on a thing called loyalty.

  13. Being realistic, unless we can move into a more challenging league, Brendan will move on. Unless he believes he can build a strong enough team to compete in Europe based on average skill but maximum teamwork.
When he does move on I think it should be with a top 6 EPL or European club, sadly not Leicester. To do this he will need to do something spectacular with Celtic

  14. Why do they do this it highlights, their arrogance and ignorance , and is tediously boring , he probably heard it from someone who heard it from someone , meaningless claptrap.

  15. My eyes were burning with the first two comments. Thank God the tone picked up and some perspective was applied. This man knows his history and it makes his heart go oh oh oh oh?.Here’s the reality – He knows what this club means to people cause it means the same to him. There’s a chance for him to put himself beside the Icons, the legends, the people who fans 100years from now are talking about.bbbbut Llleiscterrr.?HH
