BRENDAN RODGERS has made it clear he will need not one but TWO strikers in during the January window in order to be equipped and ready to go for the rest of the season.

Celtic are down to just one striker after selling Moussa Dembele on the last day of the summer window and now Leigh Griffiths’ currently taking leave the game to try and sort out his personal situation has left the club short up top.

It’s absolutely right that Leigh takes as much time as he needs to sort out his issues and the club are giving him 100% backing.

In his absence, Celtic will need to bring in reinforcements to help Odsonne Edouard who will quickly burn out if he has to carry the burden himself the rest of this campaign.

Speaking about his current striker situation, Rodgers was clear on what he needs.

“We might need two in January because we want three strikers.

“We know we can’t go through the number of games we have at the intensity we play at with the same striker.

“It’s something we’ll definitely look at. It’s always been a focus but Leigh’s situation narrows it.”

Celtic will have the Europa League, SPFL and Scottish Cup to fight for from January onwards and they will need as much help as they can get.
