In a recent press conference attended by Celtsarehere, Brendan Rodgers addressed the potential movement of players before the transfer window shuts.
Asked if there would be any more Parkhead exits between now and the end of the month, the Irishman stated, “Yeah, I would think so. I think in terms of players, we’ll probably move on those who want more game time.”
He emphasised that he has had in-depth discussions with many of the players about their current positions and future prospects. “I’ve spoken to a lot of the players in terms of where they’re at and where they stand, so I think everyone that will have here by the end of the window will want to be here.”
However, Rodgers did hint at the possibility of some changes, mentioning, “But, like I said, there could be some movement.”
Highlighting the performance of certain players, Rodgers mentioned David Turnbull, revealing Turnbull was most likely ready to move on until getting a new lease of life under the new manager, “Players like David Turnbull has done excellent over the course of pre-season. He’s come in, and he made a really good impact. I like him as a player, so sometimes players get that motivation to stay and want to fight and want to work and show their quality.”
Despite the praise for some, Rodgers anticipates that a few players might depart in search of more playing time, adding, “But overall, I do expect some to leave and because they want more game time.”
When probed about any existing bids for the players, Rodgers was straightforward, replying, ‘No’.
It remains to be seen how the squad will shape up as the transfer window draws to a close. There will be a few ins and outs before it’s all said and done.
It goes without saying the club are looking to move players like Ajeti and Soro on, but there are also guys like Haksabanovic and Kobayashi, whose future is the subject of much debate.
