Brendan Rodgers has spoken to Celtic TV about his squad going into next season and his plans for the summer.

The Irishman has been more proactive in securing players on long-term deals and making Odsonne Edouard a permanent member of the squad so far.

However, when the dreaded question about a centre-half came up again the manager joked:

“Everyone goes on about a new centre-half, but I don’t think they’d be happy with Billy McNeill playing centre-half!”

Speaking about bringing new faces in the manager is realistic about what he can do and out it down to just two things.

“We have young players developing very well and they will continue to, but we have to be in the market to bring the best possible players to Celtic but there are two conditions: availability and affordability.

“We are always on the lookout. The key was to get the likes of Tom and Odsonne in.

“Like always, there are a few areas that we want to be better in and improve.

“It’s never easy because the team we have is developing very well and I like to develop our own players.”

Celtic fans will have the chance to see the likes of Lewis Morgan next month and also see how far Ryan Christie has come in his 18-months away from the club.

Celtic have been linked with Fabian Schar so far in this window when it comes to defensive players, a signing which would excite most fans.
