MOUSSA DEMBELE is expected to leave the club next year, or more specifically at the end of this season if you believe Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking back in March when many media outlets were trying to report Moussa was on his way sooner – The Irishman spoke of a two-year cycle when it came to the Frenchman.

“I believed when Moussa came that he probably had two-year cycle,” he said.

“That’s what I saw. For me, I still think that’s the case. All the conversations I have with him I have no doubt he loves it here.

“It’s just a natural process where if you’re on X amount of money and someone offers you Y amount of money, and the club get offered a ridiculous amount of money then you have to respect that.

“That’s unfortunate. I don’t like it. For me, this is a big club and we should never have to sell anyone. But because of money that is not the reality.

“If it’s the right thing to do and all parties are happy then it’s our job to make sure we’ve got the next one coming in.

Of course, these comments came earlier this year, but I think most Celtic fans knew themselves that this could be a possibility.

There still needs to be the right bid for the player. Celtic will be holding out for big money for the striker in the summer. If Moussa manages a World Cup call-up with France it could be an even more lucrative deal for the club and player should he move on.

It’s not what Celtic fans what to hear, but Rodgers has been nothing but honest with the support and is under no illusions. They’ll be making sure they have someone ready to take his place should Moussa move on.

  1. Well we got him for next to nothing if we can get £25 mil that good but it has to be invested for a good replacement not put into some ones back poker ? Invest in Celtic move the club forward win win

  2. This lad is a great talent, as he has proved so often. I think the boy will still be with us next season, as I think he realises that another season here in the Champions league will do him more good than moving for big money , with no Champions league. He has plenty of time and if he gets a call too the first French team, then how many 00000’s can you add to a transfers fee?

  3. We all new he would only be here for a couple a seasons. We will get a massive profit on the hunskelper so not all bad news, although I will b sad to see him leave and as toctic says we still have Griffiths. COYBIG ???

  4. Champs League with Celtic or sit on the bench with some ‘top’ club. I’d rather play for Accrington Stanley every week than sit on the bench at PSG every week.
