BRENDAN RODGERS has been doing a great job trying to get his Celtic side back up to speed as they enter the second half of the season.

However, right at the start of the January break a lot of fans may have missed this particular quote from the gaffer on potential new additions.

Speaking back in December the Irishman spoke of getting deals done very early in the window but also that bringing in new faces might not be the answer.

“We’d like to have the players we want in before we head to Dubai and the club are great at tying moves up,” Rodgers said.

“But getting new players is not always the answer. Last year was brilliant for us because we actually gained a couple of players.”

Since these quotes, Celtic have nailed down Marvin Compper, even before the window had opened and have also snapped up Lewis Morgan with the player heading back out on-loan.

Since then, apart from speculation on a number of targets, there hasn’t been much real movement.

You would have to think the manager is keen to add to his side, especially for the Europa League. With the Van Dijk money coming in, it would be almost negligible if Celtic weren’t trying their best to strengthen.

As we harken back to his quotes though, was the manager getting the fans prepared for the eventuality that there won’t be too much movement this window?
